I have had no problems whatsoever with vinyl planks directly on dricore which is a smooth version of osb.
Osb under vinyl plank.
I had stainmaster vinyl floating planks installed but the guy i had do it put the floor right over osb.
I am wondering if someone can recommend a product to put as a sublayer between the subfloor and the floating floor to even out these issues.
Most flooring vinyl flooring manufacturers do not allow direct glue down directly to the subfloor.
First there was plywood and then came oriented strand board osb a less pretty and less expensive but arguably more stable substitute.
I m installing f2 fortress stronghold spc luxury vinyl plank flooring it s 180mm x 1218mm x 4mm i m installing it on new construction tongue and groove sub floor it has an attached underlayment but i m wondering what to put under it on top of sub floor my contractor wants to use tar paper but that doesn t sound right.
Putting a soft product under vinyl plank will result in an unstable floor that is much more inclined to being damaged and even punctured or torn over time.
The vinyl planks are both thick and somewhat flexible.
Simply mark and cut the first plank to size and tap it under the jamb with a tapping block.
Osb subfloor is mostly serving as a base under the finish floor hardwood engineered wood vinyl tile etc and even below the underlayment in some cases.
If you were installing sheet vinyl different story as that product requires perfect preparation and a dead smooth surface for long term use.
While underlayment for vinyl planks may be used under hardwood and laminate the reverse is not true.
Tap the end plank in sideways.
Tap the first plank under the jamb sometimes you ll have to cut around jambs while laying the planks perpendicular to a door opening.
When he was done i noticed a few spots of unevenness that are bothering me.
This is easy if the door opening falls on the same side as you started your rows.
When considering plywood for sheathing builders choose from 1 2 inch cdx common construction grade material or 1 2 inch pressure treated plywood.
Other osb negatives contractors builders and home remodelers have mixed opinions about the use of osb for flooring mostly tending toward the negative.
It was patented under the name waferboard in 1965 and it quickly claimed a major share of the new construction market being used extensively for sheathing roof decking and subfloors.
